Community Driven Support with Respect and Dignity

Founded in 1987, the Jefferson County Food Bank Association (JCFBA) has been a vital force in serving the community, particularly East Jefferson County. With a dedicated team of volunteers and staff, the JCFBA tirelessly works to address the pressing issue of food insecurity in the region. By offering a diverse range of food and hygiene supplies, they extend a helping hand to between 2,700 and 3,900 households, positively impacting the lives of nearly 8,000 individuals every month.

JCFBA partners with Food Bank Growers

Each year thousands of pounds of produce are generated for Jefferson County Food Banks and area schools. The Food Bank Growers Board intersects with the Food Banks. The two organizations work together, but are not the same non-profit.

Each garden determines which Food Bank they are going to give to and set up a relationship for the year establishing which day they will harvest/deliver and who are the primary contacts. Each week the pounds of produce that is collected and distributed is weighed and tallied

Community News

The JCFBA understands the significance of access to basic food for families, seniors, and individuals experiencing food insecurity. They recognize that hunger can have severe consequences on physical and mental well-being, making it essential to ensure that every person in the community has access to nutritious meals. Through their tireless efforts, the JCFBA provides assistance to those in need, easing the burden of food insecurity and ensuring that individuals and families have enough to eat each week.

At the heart of the JCFBA’s operations are the caring individuals who selflessly devote their time and energy to the cause. The volunteers and staff members who run each location embody a deep passion for helping their community and preventing hardship. Their commitment is evident in the compassion and dedication they bring to their work every day. By working closely with community members, they understand the specific challenges faced by those in need and tailor their services to provide the most impactful support.

The JCFBA’s work extends beyond just providing food and hygiene supplies. They also foster a sense of community and support by offering a safe and welcoming environment for individuals to connect and seek assistance. They strive to empower those they serve, promoting self-sufficiency and resilience in the face of adversity. Through educational programs and resources, the JCFBA equips community members with the skills and knowledge necessary to improve their circumstances in the long run.
